Overview

DSL's are still the main solution for the Ethernet services as supplied to a home-use. Today, most of the DSL backhauling is done over ATM infrastructure, but it is obvious that access and Metro Network are shifting from ATM to packet network in order to unify the transport layer into a single packet Network.
The DSL's are transported by using old existing PDH DSLAMs and new IP DSLAMs.
This trend requires solution for ATM Backhauling over a single packet Network.

SDH Replacement

Overview
In the last several years, the market activity is characterized by an increased demand in bandwidth, coming from new applications like: wireless backhauling, Internet, video streaming, remote storage and Cloud Computing/ SaaS (Software as a Service), that SONET/SDH TDM Networks cannot provide efficiently.

The packet network can provide bandwidth increase of 10+ times, and much higher scalability and cost effectiveness. Packet Network can provide new revenue tools by using SLA mechanism as well.
